On which of your routes do you have this service available?
Virgin Nigeria offers this service ONLY for point-to-point flights on all our domestic, regional and international routes. That is this service will only be offered from one destination to the other, and not for multiple sector travels.
For passengers requiring the service on connecting flights, they would need to request for the service on the individual segments of the travel, have the child met and received from VNA at the transiting destination, and again handed over to VNA before the departure time of the connecting flight.
What happens between the time that I hand my child over to Virgin Nigeria and arrival at destination, where my child is handed over to the assigned person documented to collect him or her?
Departure
Unaccompanied minors need to be checked-in, in the normal manner. When checking your child in, kindly inform the check in agent that your child is travelling alone, and present all your already filled in documentations to them. The check in agent will then ensure that all the details that we have collected from you are correct, and that your child has all the documentation complete for a smooth journey. You will be asked to kindly bring your child back to the check in counters when the flight closes. The assigned Virgin Nigeria staff member, will collect all the children travelling alone together, escort them through any formalities and to the aircraft, where they will be handed over to the crew. Onboard, all children travelling alone will be seated in close proximity to a crew member. Arrival
Upon arrival, the crew will again gather all the children travelling alone together and hand them over to a Virgin Nigeria representative, for them to be escorted and assisted through any formalities, collect their luggage and be handed over to the assigned person documented on the Unaccompanied Minor form. For safety and protection reasons we will require identification and a signature to confirm collection of your child.
What happens in situations of flight disruptions – delays or cancellations?
The parent/ guardian is requested to wait At the Airport before the departure of the flight, hence in any of the above mentioned disruption scenarios, parent/ guardian (as stated in the UNMR booklet) will be contacted and informed.
