09 October 07 VIRGIN NIGERIA SHOWS MORE SUPPORT FOR NOLLYWOOD INDUSTRY.
Lagos, Nigeria: October 09, 2007: In further support of the Nigerian entertainment industry, Virgin Nigeria is throwing its weight behind IRAPADA, a Nigerian movie. The Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Yemi Osindero made the statement during their recent jersey Friday, a day set aside for Virgin Nigeria staff to adorn team jerseys of either foreign or local football clubs that the members of staff support as a way of encouraging team bonding and camaraderie among members of staff. Fun and innovation, two of the five core values of Virgin Nigeria, was indeed brought to the work environment
on their “Jersey Friday” as virtually all the staff adorned jerseys of clubs they support. They were also
provided the opportunity to discuss the “supposed superiority” of the clubs they support. Speaking on the importance of the day, Dr. Osindero said: “we are constantly introducing innovative ideas to the work environment to help bring staff together and also provide them with an opportunity to unwind in a unique and easy-going manner”
Speaking on IRAPADA he said “Over time, and in our own way, we have lent our support, as part of our corporate commitment, to promote upcoming Nigerians and in extension help with the development of the entire entertainment industry and the positive projection of the Nigerian image to help build and sell the tourism potentials of the country
to all parts of the globe”
Virgin Nigeria as a socially responsible corporate organization has been in the vanguard of supporting Nigerian talents and the entire entertainment industry in projecting the image of the country in a positive manner.
IRAPADA is a timeless Nigerian film that has within its short time in the market won many laurels such as “Best Indigenous Film” during the 2007 edition of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). The film was screened earlier this year in Los Angeles during the PAN African Film Festival and it has also been chosen as the first
Nigerian movie to be screened at the forthcoming 51st London Film Festival later this month.
