VIRGIN NIGERIA LAUNCHES DIRECT FLIGHT SERVICE TO COTONOU, BENIN REPUBLIC

Lagos, Nigeria: November 12, 2007: Virgin Nigeria, Nigeria’s flag carrier today (12 November 2007) began direct flight services from Lagos to Cotonou, the capital city of Benin Republic in continuation of the drive to make Lagos a hub within the West African region

The commencement of the thrice weekly direct flights from Lagos to Cotonou will bring to four the number of regional destinations operated by Virgin Nigeria. The destinations are Cotonou Benin Republic, Accra, Ghana; Douala, Cameroon and Dakar, Senegal

Customers now have a choice of an affordable and convenient means of travelling to Cotonou thereby strengthening trade relations between Nigeria and Benin Republic. Also, Customers on the Virgin Nigeria service will have the option of onward connections to London and Johannesburg on the international routes as well as seamless connections to other Nigerian domestic routes serviced by the airline.

Announcing the commencement of direct flight services to Cotonou, the Chief Operating Officer of Virgin Nigeria, Dr. Yemi Osindero said the airline is committed towards providing convenient travel options to boost trade relations in the sub region..

“Our opening up of any new route is entirely a function of our response to customer’s demands as well as our desire to create an accessible route network. Passengers now have the choice of a quicker and more convenient means of travel as well as the option of onward connections”, Yemi further stated.


Flight services to Cotonou will be operated by Virgin Nigeria’s Fokker-50 aircraft.
