25 June 07 IATA APPOINTS ADEFUNKE ADEYEMI AS A MEMBER OF THE INDUSTRY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Lagos, Nigeria: 25 June 2007: Virgin Nigeria's Head of Legal & Company Secretary, Ms. Adefunke Adeyemi has been appointed as a member of the Industry Affairs Committee (IAC) of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global organisation for inter-airline co-operation.
By her appointment, Ms Adeyemi joins the group of 20 members so appointed by the DG of IATA to advise the Board of Governors, the Director General and other relevant IATA bodies on the regulatory aspects of commercial/industry affairs and aeropolitical matters affecting international passenger air transport.
She will also assist in identifying and developing industry policies and positions, supervising policy implementation and promoting policy campaigns as well as ensuring that IATA's multilateral interline system do not contravene competition laws.
Commenting on the appointment of Ms. Adefunke Adeyemi as a member of the Industry Affairs Committee, the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Nigeria, Mr. Conrad Clifford said:

"Ms. Adeyemi has over the years distinguished herself by exhibiting exceptional leadership characteristics and she will certainly bring her invaluable experience to bear in the discharge of her duties as a member of the Industry Affairs Committee", Conrad further stated.
Ms. Adefunke Adeyemi who doubles as Virgin Nigeria's Head of Legal as well as the Company Secretary obtained her Bachelor of Law degree at the University of Lagos before proceeding to the University of Cambridge where she bagged an honours Masters Degree in International Commercial Law. She practiced law for 6 years with F.O. Akinrele & Co before joining Virgin Nigeria as Legal Services Manager in 2005. In her role as Head of Legal and Company Secretary, she has responsibility for company wide legal advisory work, company secretarial work, corporate governance and risk management and assessment.
Funke is an ardent salsa dancer. She also loves swimming, running and singing. She is a member of the Musical Society for Nigeria and loves the arts. She is keen on volunteer work that involves children.
