25 January 08 VIRGIN NIGERIA APPOINTS BOLA OLAJOMI-OTUBU
HUMAN RESOURCES & FACILITIES DIRECTOR
Lagos, Nigeria: 25 January 2008: Virgin Nigeria Airways is pleased to announce the appointment of Bola Olajomi-Otubu as Director of Human Resources and Facilities effective January 2008.
The portfolio recognizes the increasing size and range of requirements within the areas of Human Capital Management and Facilities. Accountable directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Bola Olajomi-Otubu will originate and lead Human Resource practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and ultimately the development of a superior workforce. Bola received her B.Sc. in Psychology and an M.Sc in Industrial and Organisational Psychology both from the University of Ibadan. She has recently concluded an M.SC in International Human Resources Management at the Cranfield University, UK.
From Kimberly Ryan, where Bola first cut her teeth as a Human Resource Consultant, Bola has garnered over 10 years experience rising from Trainee to Senior Management positions in various multinationals and Banks.
Commenting on her appointment, Conrad Clifford the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Nigeria said ‘I am delighted to announce this appointment. Bola has all the necessary skills and experience to manage our people that will sustain quality delivery in the face of our planned expansion of the business. Currently, we directly employ close to 1,000 people and that number will rise to 5,000 within the next three years. I am confident that she will help drive forward the development of our personnel numbers and quality and help create a vibrant and open culture for Virgin Nigeria, which is so important for our customer service business. At the same time we have ambitious plans to expand our facilities in terms of office and residential staff accommodation, training facilities, hangarage and so on’.
Bola Olajomi-Otubu who is happily married, has in the course of her career attended a number of international and local Human Resource Management courses both at Harvard Business School and Lagos Business School, amongst others. She enjoys experimenting with Asian Cuisine, Sewing and Traveling.
