VIRGIN NIGERIA’S IN-FLIGHT MAGAZINE GLIDES INTO VIEW
Lagos Nigeria, 3rd March 2009: Nigeria’s flag carrier, Virgin Nigeria Airways Limited, is delighted to announce the entry of its in-flight magazine, Glide, into flights on all the domestic and regional routes within its extensive route network. “The magazine has been one of our major projects recently, and has taken its time in coming because we wanted to do it right.” Nkiru Olumide-Ojo, the company’s Head of Corporate Communication said. “After months of painstaking work and attention to detail such as the brand is known for, we are proud to present to our customers, and indeed the general public, the exciting visual experience we call Glide – which is made to exquisite international magazine standards, and is comparable to lifestyle journals globally.”
Very proudly Nigerian in content and presentation, the magazine is published on behalf of Virgin Nigeria by Voyager Media, with photography and editorial direction provided through Victor Politis, whose book of photographs, Nigeria Through The Eyes of a Passerby, was launched recently in Lagos, with a team of award-winning Nigerian writers including Jahman Anikulapo, Tokini Peterside and Tolulope Ogunlesi.
It also showcases some of Virgin Nigeria’s recent strides, including the entry of its Embraer Jet, the extensive regional and domestic route network, fleet and safety successes, the Eagleflyer frequent flyer programme, expansive corporate social responsibility outreaches including the Virgin Nigeria Cadet Pilot Scheme, products and services including the various special fares, and the company’s multiple accolades nationally and internationally.
In an editorial message, the company CEO, Conrad Clifford said. “Glide showcases the best of the Nigerian nation and our disapora, exploring the incredible diversity of our destinations. The magazine travels off the beaten track, meets inspirational figures in industries ranging from fashion to finance and entertains with tips and quips. We hope to provide you with an enjoyable travel experience and hope you will find our new magazine as fun to read as it was to produce.”
The magazine – which first edition has already attracted significant advertising patronage - is available on all the airline’s flights and customer-facing points, whilst arrangements are in progress to take the magazine on a road show, to present to the Nigerian public a journal that truly celebrates the Nigerian spirit.
